COVID-19 Response - A letter from Toyota Canada President and CEO, Larry Hutchinson

First and foremost, health and safety.

Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our customers, dealers, team members, vendors and communities. We will continue to act in a timely manner and base our decisions on the guidance we receive from national, provincial and local public health authorities. We are also ensuring all team members are aware of the important role they play in staying safe and keeping others safe.

We're here for you.

We know that you rely on your vehicle to keep your family safe and healthy, so we are doing everything possible to ensure all of the necessary support is in place for you to have your vehicle serviced and repaired.

As usual, our Toyota Roadside Assistance and Customer Service team is available to support you at 1-888-TOYOTA-8 or www.toyota.ca/contact-us

To know the exact status of your Toyota dealership, please check with them directly for up-to-the-minute information: www.toyota.ca/find-a-dealer

Toyota Financial Services is also here to support you through these exceptional circumstances, offering payment relief to customers on a case-by-case basis. Customers can request payment relief by calling the Toyota Financial Services customer service centre at 1-800-661-3062. If you require other account information, you can log into the Toyota Customer Portal, where you can easily request changes to your account from the comfort and convenience of your own home. It's quick and available 24/7.

You may have questions. We're ready to answer them.

The events of recent days have been concerning and disruptive for all of us.

Due to the rapidly evolving nature of the COVID-19 situation, anything could change. With that, know that we are committed to servicing your needs as reliably as possible. Along with our dealers, we are closely monitoring the situation and making contingency plans in an effort to be able to continue to serve our customers should major changes in the way we operate need to take place.

Meanwhile, we are here to answer any questions you may have - from lease turn-ins to upcoming service appointments. And we will, of course, update you on any further changes to our operations.

As always, I thank you for putting your trust in Toyota, and for your continued support.

Supporting Canadian Communities - Toyota's COVID-19 Response

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt and affect our lives, Toyota (Toyota Canada, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Toyota Financial Services) is taking a number of actions to support our communities across the country.

While we will continue to reach out to governments, public health authorities, suppliers and other businesses to offer our help and support, here are a few examples of what we've already done - and what we're working on - to support Canadian communities as they respond to this pandemic:

Financing:

  • Toyota Financial Services (TFS) is working hard to support their customers through these exceptional circumstances. Customers can request payment relief by calling the TFS customer service department at 1-800-661-3062 and accommodations will be made on a case-by-case basis.
  • For TFS customers with leases coming due, the company is also being flexible in granting lease end extensions. To request a lease extension, customers should contact their dealer first.

Donations:

  • Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) has donated approximately 1000 NIOSH-certified N95 ventilator masks to four local hospitals.
  • Additionally, TMMC has donated gloves, protective eyewear and sanitary boot protectors to the same hospitals.

Other Actions:

  • Currently, TMMC is working with Inksmith, a 3D printing company, to fabricate protective face masks using six 3D printers at their production facilities:
  • Using Toyota Production System expertise, TMMC has already streamlined the design of the masks, reducing production time from five hours to 3.5 hours.
  • TMMC is also enlisting more partners within the community to increase output.
  • TMMC is currently connecting with industrial partners and governments to discuss the potential fabrication of components used in medical equipment, including ventilators.
  • TMMC is offering its Toyota Production System expertise in collaboration with manufacturing and technology companies to develop improved testing infrastructure for COVID-19.

Please note: At this time, Toyota is not asking its team members to participate in any community activities / volunteering. We do not want to put any team members at risk.

These are just some of the activities Toyota is undertaking to help support our Canadian communities as they respond to this pandemic. As we continue to take further actions, we will share them with you.
